Map Reduce is often associated with various data processing frameworks, but in reality it is a model for dealing with large, parallel computations. In this talk we will explore the fundamental concept behind Map Reduce, demonstrating the advantages of function-oriented programming and the applicability of its model to plain old RDBMS.
